Embroidery

November 16, 2016

embroidery

ɪmˈbrɔɪd(ə)ri,ɛm-/

noun

1. the art or pastime of embroidering cloth.

"my mother decided I should learn embroidery"

2. embellishment or exaggeration in the description of an event.

           "fanciful embroidery of the facts"

A Type of counted thread embroidery where repetitive geometric patterns are used to fill in design areas, associated with Tudor England. And now you shall be bored with yet another blog post regarding embroidery, but hold on to your embroidered hats, this look is divine. Earthy flowers on black suede boots and red embroidered patterns on a long red dress, creating a vintage antique feel.

I like embroidery, I remember my grandmother sitting with her embroidery hoop on the stoop and ever meticulously creating corny quotes with string on material. However now you just program a computer and viola a machine shoots that string through cloth in no time. Hence the antiquity is lost but it still looks fantastically, purposefully old. So now I am walking through these fields feeling somewhat special with my fantastic red embroidered dress with the knowledge that back in the day this dress would have cost a fortune considering the effort that tingled hands would have had to go through to create what would then be considered as art. Damn machines.
