As a freelance photographer in Cape Town I get asked this question allot "what are great locations for engagement shoots?". Living in the Western Cape the options are endless, but being that it is South Africa there are certain elements of safety that you also have to take into account. So I thought it would be a great idea to make a list of my favorite, secure photo shoot locations in the Western Cape followed with photos that I have taken on these locations, and the best part is, all these locations are free.
1. Engagement photo shoot location: Camps Bay, Western Cape
This location is great if you want variety. You will have the option to have only the beach and ocean in the background or Lions head and the buildings which gives of a nice European vibe. The only downside of this location is that it can be quite busy so if you are on the shy side I would say that you should opt for one of the quieter beach locations.
2. Engagement photo shoot location: Bakoven, Western Cape
This location is perfect if you want photos that look more artistic than your usual beach photos. You will find stunning views of the ocean and boulders in the background.
3. Engagement photo shoot location: Signal Hill, Western Cape
This location is perfect if you want variety. In one engagement photo session you will have photos of Table mountain, the ocean and the city in the background. And it is easy to find spots with no tourists to keep the photoshoot more private.
4. Engagement photo shoot location: Lavender farm Franschoek, Western Cape
This location is perfect if you want something different, with stunning mountain views and beautiful lavender fields.
5. Engagement photo shoot location: Simons Town, Western Cape
Another secluded beachfront where you might catch a penguin or two in your photo. This location provides stunning views for days and a romantic day out while your at it.
6. Engagement photo shoot: Camps bay pipe track, Western Cape
This location is perfect for beautiful open ocean mountain views. Put on comfortable shoes because there is a bit of a walk involved.
7. Engagement photo shoot location: Secret spot, Western Cape
This location is one of may favorite locations in fact I go there weekly for some snorkeling, but I am going to keep it a secret, which I will reveal once you have booked me of course!;)
